Can husbands get on well with their mothers-in-law?
Mar 18, 2008 03:56
guestcolby The relationship between a wife and her mother-in-law troubled thousands of Chinese families. In recent years, the relation between husbands and their mother-in-laws does not go well as it is before. A couple lives next to my door. Every time when the hostess tries to make the time to visit her own mom(her husband’s mother-in-law, her husband tries to find some excuses. His regular excuse is: “I work very long hours” He often says he is tired after work and prefers to stay at home with his wife. (Actually, he usually watches television.).

When it comes to visit the husband’s mom, the man never said that he was tired. Strange? The hostess sighed: “I married a selfish guy”. Did you usually see your mother-in-law. Ladies, what will you do if you marry such a husband?

Comedians have been joking about this for as long as I can remember.

I imagine this problem crosses all cultures and has existed since men and women created family units.

I can' t bear a petty man like that. Men should be magnanimous. It is common that wives and mothers-in-law can not get along well. ( I must admit that we women are sometimes a little petty). But how can a man behave the same way?
