Fresh water is decreasing by leaps and bounds. When will we realize the value of water? March 22 is the World Water Day. Various countries marks this day through various activities. However, does it mean that we need to cherish water only on that day? Some people did do that way.

A mother tells her daughter information about the World Water Day in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province on March 22, 2008. Activities marking the World Water Day were held on Saturday in Xi'an to increase citizens' awareness of water saving and resource protection.

Hopefully, the majority of people of all countries will realize the scarcity of clean water long before reaching the "point of no return" in regards to availability and pressure their governments for action.

Desalination of sea water and piping it to the interior appears to be the best solution although the most expensive.

Construction of dams are more harmful to the environment.

Water needs to be controlled by the people (government) rather than privatized so the cost to the consumer(s) remains reasonable.

When? A good question! One hundred years is too far, time presses.

I conserve water out of habit because I am a tightwad. I don’t want to see my water bill shoot up.

I am fortunate living just a few miles from the source of my water in the mountains. You can put your face in the streams here and drink the water. In February does our water level drop, but my well has never dried up.

I use a water conserving shower head and water saving toilet tanks to save water. I don't waste water.

Hehe, Griz, it seems that you are living a lifestyle of a hermit the Chinese poets described in their poems. (LOL!) Anyhow, it feels good to hear you are of water conservation consciousness.
