Transiberian Railway / South China / Somewhere in China

guest68168 I posted this elsewhere, but I'd seriously consider a trip just within China as well, if there's anyone interested. Though if there's anyone here interested in the railway plan (especially from moscow!), that would be awesome. Basically if you're free late may/early june, let me know!

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of taking the Transiberian Railway from Moscow to Beijing, departing from Moscow early June (thinking June 5, but pretty flexible on that point).
I'm looking for someone to travel with, especially if you speak Russian! Big Big Plus! I don't speak any Russian at all but am fluent in Mandarin Chinese, so hopefully I'll be of increasing use as we get into China.
Is anyone interested? i'm quite flexible with plans actually, the only date I have to look out for is June 16, which is when I need to start work in Hong Kong. I'm planning to take about 10 days on the railway and then fly in to HK.

Alternatively, heck, if anyone wants to go to China or any darn place between New York City and Hong Kong for the 2-3 weeks before June 16, let me know and we can figure out something. I'm sure you've guessed by now that I'm a fresh graduate (23yrs old) heading East to start work, so pretty excited about it!

The two main things I'm considering now are the Transib (don't really want to go alone on this one), or a trip around South China, which I've heard can be fascinating. But I'm much more keen on the transib!

Ok let me know guys is any of you are interested. I've no fixed plans yet as you can see, except for the end date.
Oh yes - my main focus would be to (hopefully) mingle with locals and try to learn more about the 2 cultures, though the Russian language problem makes that rather tricky....
