The concept of Darwinism may work fine in employment situations, to a certain point, getting the most production from a worker and encouraging competition. This results in an advantage to the employer and consumer for cheaper goods produced and higher tech items, of course the worker(s) may or may not gain in regards to wages vs. production. The end results (eventually) due to competition of laborer and manufacturer amongst themselves will be fewer laborers and fewer manufacturers resulting in an increase in price of goods and fewer consumers to buy.
In regards to social applications of Darwinism, a person only has to read about concentration camps, death camps, genocide and other atrocities against humanity to see the extremes of that ideology.
