![]() | This May will be my second trip to China with my wife. On our last trip we stayed at several hotels and all of them had really hard beds. Does anyone have any suggestions for relief? Are beds at all hotels in China so hard or were we just unlucky? We are going to visit my wife's family in Shenyang and also plan to visit Shanghai and Suzhou (Tongli). My wife thinks I'm a wimp but it's hard to have fun when your muscles and back are aching. |

![]() | This is what I do because invariably most beds in China a hard as........ Now I have a piece of foam on my bed but for the first year or too I used all the extra cotton comforters, sometimes using three or more to help soften the bed in my apartment. Look in the cupboards for extra bedding/blankets etc Take the doona/comforter and place it beneath you. I have even asked for a second one or just use it like a zip out sleeping bag. Or you could bring a small self inflating mat to use. |

![]() | If you're going to stay in a guesthouse in Tongli with antique beds then don't expect softness. In Shenyang and Shanghai if you go for hotels like the Westin you'll get soft beds. |

![]() | I think you will find most beds in China are hard. It does take some getting used to, but it does seem better on the back IMO. Dodger. |

![]() | (((((Soft beds? My wife thinks I'm a wimp )))) I do not know your wife but I do agree with her. He, he (just joking) Yes, beds are smaller and harder than the western beds on average. |
