| Hi, I noticed you have a Chinese wife so I figured you may know the answer to this: Do Chinese tourists need an exit permit to travel to Australia or just an Australian visa and ticket? If the flight is from Hong Kong, would they need the exit permit if they are taking a bus directly from the mainland to the airport? Thanks for your help, Amiel |

| I am not sure I understand what you mean by exit permit. I have exited Hong Kong many times without but I am not Chinese. Is this something they need to apply for from the PSB in China? I see in many places that if they have an onward ticket and a valid visa for the destination and the stay in HK is less than 7 days (classed as transit) that they don't need the permit whereas if they entered HK for any other reason they do. Any experiences? |
