| Quote >>Popular culture will dominate unless the children's parents guide them. Many parents are wary of what TV shows their children watch because of the undue influence of the medium. Good parents will see that their children have some religious training to help them through life. Children are very impressionable and it is the parents responsibility to guide them. << Yinduffy, I agree with you on most part of your statement. A universal phenomenon is that various traditional cultural paradigms are being challenged by the pop culture. That is to say, some distinguished traditional culture assets are on the verge of extinction. Pop culture relying on its powerful propaganda gains the upper hand over traditional culture. I favor your opinion that it is parents' responsibility to guide their children to the right track. Well, to have religious training might be a good way in the western countries, but in China, an atheistic country, religious preaching has never been considered to be a ideal way to protect traditional culture. |

| Confucius is here to stay, but so is Santa Claus. Part of the Chinese economy is due to Santa Claus. Look where all the decorations for Xmas are made. Even Jews have a tree although they don't call it a Xmas tree but it is decorated with lights. |
