guestdawn manning Hello and I would love an english speaking person to go to Lijiang from Hangzhou on Apr 28th for 5-6 days; want to do Tiger Leaping Gorge and I am a bit confused about transport. Think it must be train; Hangzhou to Kunming then bus; Kunming to Lijiang any advice would be welcome

GUESTJUDY you can take a flight or take a bus( if you don't mind 10 hours sitting on bus) , it is about 600km from kumming to Lijiang.

Assuming you don't want to spend the entire holiday on the train (35.5-39 hours each way between Hangzhou and Kunming!) I would suggest that you at least fly round-trip Hangzhou -- Kunming.
From Kunming depending on your financial resources you could fly or take a bus (daytime, or overnight sleeper to save time) to Lijiang, and back the same way.
