"The Merchants of Huizhou" .... A 7 part series shown on CCTV9. It reveals the workings of basic capitalism in a dynastic society that lasted appx. 300 years.
The Chinese merchants view of what accumulated wealth was (or meant) vs. the Western view.
Some of this information could be applicable in todays conversion of China into a free market system (both the good and bad of it).

Thanks Gary. It's a shame that I don't know much on my country. AnHui province is a relatively poor province and in east China. I remember that when I was in Shanghai, most beggars without shelters were from that province.

GUEST11258 Gary, Do you happen to know if the program(s) are available on-line somewhere in streaming format or if they can be purchased or possibly borrowed from a public TV library on DVD?

I am not a member yet so I will check back here in a few days. Thanks.
Andy

I'm sure there's a Huizhou in Guangdong province. That's Hui4 Zhou1. And in Anhui, there's also a Huizhou. But that one is Hui1 Zhou1...
