![]() | By the way, Photo #3 is a group of ROTC cadets. The Reserve Officer's Training Corps is another way to become an officer in the U.S. Army. JROTC (Junior ROTC) are High school students who volunteer for military training. ROTC cadets are college students who take military classes along with their academic major. Upon completion and when they receive their college diploma they are also commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants in the U.S. Army. By enrolling in ROTC, they get reimbursed for a large part of their college costs. After their four-year term the graduates of West Point are also commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants ( the lowest Officer grade in the Army.) and take on their military assignments. About 2,000 cadets are graduated each year and they include several hundred foreign citizens from friendly countries ( even recently from Iraq.). Photo #8 is of Female U.S.Army soldiers in the old style uniform - they are not cadets and the cap is now a black beret. Incidentally the U.S. Army is changing from green service coat and pants to Blue. the green uniform was adopted in 1955. |
