Why does human yawn?

Do you usually yawn? Scientists say a person begins to yawn when he/she is a 15-week-old embryo. We all think that yawning is sign of fatigue, but scientists say that yawning might be an ominous sign which indicates there are some harmful gases in our lungs. They also claimed that yawning might be socially contagious.

I would say it is contagious, I used to pretend to yawn when I was at work and within seconds 2 or 3 of my work mates would be yawning and cursing me at the same time. he he

Whenever my wife looks at me she yawns...........Geez........hmmm.
