Apparently, US citizens are issued only multiple entry visas now (at a substantial price increase I might add) that are valid for one year. Does anyone know if the 90 day maximum begins on entry into China or the date that is specified on the visa application? Thanks!

It begins from the date of entry when issued outside the country. Visas issued inside China are measured from the date of issue.

The price increase is related to the lack of a reciprocal arrangement with the USA, I believe.

I kind of figured that was the case. Thanks and yes, I knew the price increase was because of a somewhat daft Uncle Sam.
