I am an American and want to marry in China. If I understand correctly all I need is my passport, which I have and a tourist visa. All other paper work is done in China. Is that correct?

No, RPROGER, there is much more work stateside than that. Among other things, you must bring a document that proves you are eligible to marry signed by a government official - I do not recall which official is needed. Try http://www.candleforlove.com That site is dedicated to marrying and bringing your Chinese bride home.

Actually, the Chinese citizen has to have more documentation than the American. If you have a passport and visa, you can get a declaration of marriageability from the American embassy. If you have been divorced I think you will need your divorce papers however. All I had was a passport and visa and it took less than 48 hours for both of us to get everything.
