| Source: Xinhua News. May 12th was a disaster for Chinese people. On that day, a destructive earthquake happened in Wenchuan, Sichuan Province. According to Xinhua News, the death toll has risen to 14866. “Among the figure, 14,463 were dead in Sichuan Province, 280 in Gansu Province, 106 in Shaanxi Province, 14 in Chongqing Municipality, two in Henan Province and one in Yunnan Province.” Really sad! However, Chinese people have been united to fight against the disaster. The soldiers have been sent to the disaster areas to rescue the people. The overseas Chinese, entertainment stars, corporations and people from other provinces have tried their best to help the people in the disaster areas through donation. It is said that donations of cash and goods to the quake-hit areas were valued at 877 million yuan. With the help, I believe that Chinese people will win the battle against the earthquake. Quote from Xinhua report---“Where there's life, there's hope.” No.1 Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao came into Yingxiu Town of Wenchuan. |
