![]() | Hi Everyone, I'm considering a 4 week trip through China in December 08-January 09. The key cities I'm planning to visit are: Shanghai, Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, Guilin and Hong Kong. This may seem like a silly question, but do the trains operate to schedule during Winter? (i.e. are they affected by snow in the northern regions?) If so, would flying be a better option for some routes? Also, if anyone can suggest some additional "must see" places, please let me know. I've only just started researching this, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :) |

![]() | Yes, trains run as per normal regardless of season or weather. I would suggest that you also go to Harbin. Look on my VirtualTourist Harbin travel page for more tips and photos: http://members.virtualtourist.com/ Don't know what else to recommend you, since you didn't indicate your sightseeing interests/preferences. |

![]() | No trains to Jiuzhaigou so you would have to fly from either Xian or Chengdu subject to the weather and availability |

![]() | Yes, Jaba brought up a good point. Xi'an -- Jiuzhaigou flights don't run in winter. You'll have to fly from Chengdu. |
