Neutral country for marriage recognised in China - exists?

guest?? Hey folks,

UK male here seeking info about marrying my Chinese girlfriend early next year. We met mid-last year when I was over there for 7 months and she's since spent a month in the UK with me in April. As far as marriage goes, UK requirements decree us living together for two years in any country before being entitled to marry here, which is a no-go.

Marrying in China is easier but due to my job commitments, it's difficult for me to be away for around two months (21 days until registering, then wait, marry, then wait, etc). It's not really an option to quit my job either as the her application for a visa once married would need to be employed so neither of us need public funds to live.

So, I'm wondering if their is a country out there where we can marry without needing 2 months prior, after which the marriage is recognised in both the UK and China. If not, China it will be... somehow, but I'd like to completely rule out other options first.

Thank you for any advice.

GUEST20229 The waiting period for marriage in Hong Kong is 14 days. Neither has to be a HK resident. You can book an appointment online to give notice, and then only one person has to go on that date go give notice at the marriage registry and select a marriage date. Then on the day of, show up with IDs and 2 witnesses.

GUESTGUEST JAS Wouldn't it be more simple to get a certificate of no impediment in the UK first? This way the 21 day notice to marry is done now whilst you are planning everything, collect after 21 days then it needs to go to the Foreign office public counter for legalisation & notarisation, then to the Chinese embassy for the same process. When you go to China you will only have to wait 4-5 days for your marriage certificate after registering your marriage.

It's exactly what I done, then we applied for a settlement visa the following day.
