GUEST18117 Consider the May 12th earthquake also occurred 88 days before the Olympic. I did not confirm the calculation though.

Kevin, let's shake hands. 7 is my lucky number as well and 3 is not bad to me. And i really don't like 8 for no specific reasons.

Wow, great, Marrie. I don't like 8 because it sounds like "发(Fa 1)" in Chinese. "发" is usually used with "财(Cai 2)", meaning "getting rich". It is good, isn't? However, it is sometimes used with "暴发户(Bao 4 Fa 1 Hu 4)", which means "upstarts". Some of them live very luxuriously. I don't want to be a 暴发户.

Marrie, did anyone tell you that odd numbers were not lucky? Some people told me this before. They say Seven was unlucky, especially when it was connected with Four. In Chinese, 47 has a similar pronunciation with "死去(Si 3 Qu 4)", which means "go to die". What do you think?

Marrie, I think this is because of cultural differences. For Chinese, 4 and 7 are not propitious. People avoid using 4 and 7 in their Vehicle license plates, cellphone and telephone numbers etc. China Mobile even adopts some preferential conditions to promote those cellphone numbers. For foreigners, 13 is the unlucky number. But I don't know when Chinese people start to believe 13 is a unlucky number. Once I went to an office building, I found that there was no 13 floor.

GUEST24204 The devastations that happened in China were not brought by the number 8 or caused or influenced by any other factor. They are natural disasters that could happen anytime at any date in any year. It just so happen that people with supertitious beliefs tend to equate them with dates and numbers. Why not try to multiply the numbers instead of adding them. Subtraction or division... anyone?
