Chengdu-Dazu-Chongqing

We would like to travel from Chengdu to Dazu and Chongqing. How do we get there? Any idea of prices? Is it better to go straight to Chongqing and then see Dazu on the way back? Any ideas on accommodation in Chongqing and Dazu and prices? Will the spring festival make it more difficult to get accommodation etc?

HI, Chinaplate:
Dazu County, is 269 kilometres away from Chengdu and 70 kilometres away from Chongqing.
I suggest you to take round trip trains to Chongqing from Chengdu
After your arrival in Chongqing, take a bus from Chongqing West Bus Station to Dazu County
which may only takes you 2 hours and there are many shuttle buses running between the two places everyday.
I think one day tour in Dazu is enough, so you may transfer back to Chongqing of the day.


For the info of the train:

Train K927 ( Chengdu to Chongqing ) starts at 20:50 arrive at 7:32 (next day)
Train K928 ( Chongqing to Chengdu) starts at 20:53 arrive at 7:06 (next day)
Ticket charge is about 150yuan for a hard sleeper ( the price is to soar by 15 to 20 percent around the New year peak season)

It is too crowded to take a train during the new year. Maybe you can take bus from Chengdu to Dazu, there are regular buses run between these two cities, then stay overnight there at Dazu Hotel(the local best). Then next day take bus to Chongqing. For the return trip, train is a better choice if tickets can be guaranteed.

GUESTMK Anyone can help with bus timetable from Hechuan to Dazu and return trip? Planning to do one-day trip for Dazu on 20 Oct 2014.

Ask local in Hechuan to check the schedule for you on the Chines website for buses etc.
