An international survey released last Wednesday shows that women and men expect different appealing traits in their first meeting thate special someone. Women prefer someone who has a strong sense of humor; wheras men prefer for those who please their eyes.

The survey carried out in 16 countries by Canadian romance publisher Harlequin Enterprises questioned women and men on six continets about the traits they liked or disliked about an opposite sex. The result reveals that men attached more attention to physical attraction than intelligence; while women rated humor as the most important trait that they are expecting from the opposite sex.

In the ways how to impress the opposite sex, there are also extinct differences between men and women.
Men usually use their social status, humor and financial condition to impress women; while women frequently use physical attraction, sex and gentle smile to catch men’s attention.

How did you impress your Mr. or Miss Right in the first dating? What traits of your BF or GF impressed you deeply? Physical attraction? Humor? Intelligence or gentle smile?

Hmm, humor is a cherished trait. Both men and women expect their partners to have a strong sense of humor.

In earlier years when observing nature I noticed that some birds attracted mates by making nest.
So, in complete ignorance, on my first date I made a bird nest for the girl......it worked like a "lead balloon"
My luck says that if I ever reincarnate as a bird then I will not be able to make a nest.
O.K. ....O.K. that was lousy.......maybe a 3.

I was only me myself. Talked with her, listened her, opened door for her, got drunk from looking into her eyes.

Carlos....hmmm..... are things not going well for you, do you need words of encouragement from other people on this site? Am not trying to be too personal about this!

Gary, things usually go agains wishes. we are grateful to others' encouragement if it's really from the bottom of the heart. however, the lesson from reality is we rarely receive a helping hand even if such help is just a piece of cake to others. even worse, the herd behavior (i guess you quite understand how this term applied in politics, investment, and human society) is deadly when you are trapped in troubling mud. probably i am too pessimistic to human nature. but we are taught that true help is from inner power, which means, only you can save yourselves.

that's why there comes the saying: a friend in need is a friend indeed.

Basically, men and women are the same. Both men and women prefer someone who has a strong sense of humor.
