First you need work permit.
Then you can change your L visa to other.
Your job provider can help. You need to take advice from advocate of your job provider.

RASHID, I am afraid you can't extend your L visa in China.

But you can get a z visa indeed.

the procedures are as followed:

1. Application for approval of alien employment for your company.
2. Application for Alien Employment Certificate--a paper
3. Go back to your contry to get a z visa with your visa notification issued by certain authorities.
4. Body check & photo taking
5. Alien Employment Liscence--a book.
6. residence permit

However, Chinese government is now quite strict with the alien employment in China.

So you might not be able to get the Z visa yourself.

Because My company tried to employ a foreigner once, and we couldn't even pass the first step. and the documents needed are very complicated.

So I strongly get some help from the agent.

may I ask which city are you going to work in?

Many employers choose to be ignorant about visas as they cannot legally employ foreigners. (see what Mossimo said above) To get a true work visa (Z) the employer must have the governement certificate or get another employer to do it. You should apply from your home country especially during the tight visa rules for the Olympics. At the moment you are unlikley to get it any other way. Alternatively you might get an F visa with the help of your employer. The rules are applied differently in each province and are likely to be tougher for the Olympic period. You will also find it hard to get a long renewal of your tourist visa while in China. I recommend you do not go to the expense of coming (unless u can afford the risk) until your employer has made certain he can get u a suitable visa

Dear APAULT,,,,,
Hello,
what you might don't know ..i have been tried to get the visa for almost 60 days and finally what i got is "L" as my flight reservation been canceled more that three time and i paid for that a round 300$ i feel sick from canceling my flight because of the regulations and the tough rules in china... any way i decided to visit china and see what is happening my self and work hard for any possible chance to stay there if i do succeeded its ok if not i have to come back home but at least i should bring with me sort of "z" visa documentations or what ever might be possible thats exactly what am thinking a bout.....so do you have any useful idea rather than what i mentioned?
thank you so much

Brink your education certificates and 2 references from employers. Of course you will need a work resume as well. I think you can handle the rest here.
