Transportation & Sight-seeing plans in Beijing & Shanghai

guest11190 Hi,

3 of us are visiting these 2 great cities for the first time and need help on transportation and sight-seeing advice ? So far, I managed to find the followings from guidebooks and need to plan our itinenary but transport could be a deciding factor in our order of places to visit.

Taxi - difficult to get a taxi, time wasted on traffic jams but point to point convenience and get some sight-seeings along the way.

Metro - need to walk to places of visit but faster if there is traffic jam.

Costwise, I believe they are close. My places to cover are:

a) Beijing(2 days) - Forbidden City, Tiananmen, Temple of Heaven, Beihai Park, Hutong & Drum Bell, Lamma Temple, Summer Palace, New Olympic Stadiums

b) Shanghai(2 days) - Old Town, Yu Garden, Bund(can walk from Yu Garden ?), Xintiandi, People's Square, Shanghai Museum, Putong - one tower & Ocean Aquarium, French Concession, Jade Buddha Temple & a river cruise.

Any other better places suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated.

You could also visit Suzhou while you are in Shanghai. It's a beautiful old city with 2500 years history. 80km from Shanghai.

Only TWO days for Beijing? Sorry, you're too optimistic. Either that or you're rushing like mad.
