2 weeks in Shanghai, Beijing & Xi'an

guest08128 Dear fellow travellers,

I am planning 2 weeks trip starting from Shanghai and departing from Shanghai. This is my first time to these 3 places and although I have read some guidebooks I have not decided how many days I should allocate for each place. Can you guys help with some suggestions ?.I am flexible on the places to visit but prefer the more popular places and those that requires less walking.

Is it better to travel by train or air between those places ? Shall I book ahead or can I do it after arriving in Shanghai ?

GUEST08128 Sorry I forgot to mention I don't mind doing some short excursion trips nearby if I have extra days after seeing the important sites in the 3 cities.

Here's a rather general suggestion.
Shanghai (2 days) -- longish overnight train -- Xi'an (2 days) -- overnight train -- Pingyao (1.5 days) -- bus (via Taiyuan) -- Datong (1.5 days) -- bus -- Beijing (4 days) -- overnight train -- Hangzhou (1.5 days) -- bus (via Jiashan) -- Xitang (1.5 days) -- bus (via Jiaxing) -- Shanghai Pudong airport
When would you be travelling? If you've any more queries please email to yahoo.com|ellyse99 and put "TravelChinaGuide" in the subject line, thanks.
