Punk fashion

guesttrist Punk fashion was once popular in America. The “punk” dressed differently from ordinary people. For instance, their jeans had holes on the lap. The clothes looked dilapidated and sleazy. Where did the punk fashion start? USA? I saw a girl dressed in queer styles yesterday. Did only young people dress in “punk style”?

My guess would be either the U.S. or Britain.
The motorcycle gangs of the 1950's might be related to this.
Really became prominent in the States in the 1960's during the Viet Nam war era.
Punk dress or style...... A non-verbal statement made by individuals as a sign of non-conformity?
Should have been popular during the depression era of the 1920-30's but everyone was too damn poor
to care or notice.

I have learnt that punk fashion originated from Britain, but gained popularity in the USA. Well, I am not sure if the origin of "punk subculture" is related to black people. Black people made Hip-pop a trend. Ouch, am I wrong? Does hip-pop belong to "punk subculture"?

Punk did in fact come from the council house estates of England (late 60’s) where there was a high proportion of people on the dole. (unemployment benefits) They dressed in second hand cloths and eventually the torn clothing became a uniform and a symbol of protest and then an art form. Punk bands also appeared about the same time. Remember Johnny Rotten singing the national anthem?
It was meant to be an ant-establishment movement. A grass roots protest against the status quo. In some ways it worked.
I grew up playing in old bombed out houses left from the war and lived in a house that should have been condemned long ago.
I understand their anger and frustration but nothing much has changed.
I have to go; nurse needs to change my colostomy bag.

Which country's national anthem? I have never heard about it.

Dodger, you make me confused. You are an Aussie, not British, Right? Any severe wars in Aussie?

Leonardo,
J R sang the UK national anthem. I cant repeat it here though.
I grew up in the south east part of England and there were still plenty of bomb sites left to play in.
I was only joking about the colostomy bag. It’s just my sense of humour. I am in remarkably good health considering the abuse that my body has gone through. Nurse says so.

Young people dressed in grunge can be seen everywhere in Chinese cities. We have to be accustomed to the pop culture.
