![]() | The amount of flights between Shanghai (both airports!) and Beijing is so numerous its almost funny. Also, lucky for you, they're quite cheap. You can probably get a good weekday flight for around 500-700 RMB (US$70-$100) one way. Not bad. Your second equally as good option already mentioned is the train. There is a great daily rail service between Shanghai and Beijing and might even be cheaper than flying. I'm a bit sketchy on the ticket price details, but I do know that these trains are quite nice. What a job working only on the weekends! Make sure you also check out Hangzhou an hour or two south of Shanghai. You're so close you might as well. |

![]() | Yes, quite frequent. Flight itself takes about 2 hours, but figure on 2 hours each way to travel to/from airports, 1-1.5 hour for check-in, and some time for unforeseen delays. "Expensive" is a relative concept so I don't know how I should answer you on that. |
