I will be leaving for my trip to Qindago in about three weeks. I have purchased a Ring for a friens of mine here in the Untied states and would like to give it to them, but i have noticed in the customes section it states that you can't bring gold or dimonds such as jewerly in to China with out paying some sort of import tax... Dose anyone know if this is true, and even thoe I'm giving this as a gift, I'm i still going to be taxed. And if so, how do I find out how much.............

I don't think the import tax should be paied for just one ring.
My father bought a digital camera from Hong Kong to China Mainland without paying any import tax. And he told me that if one takes this kind of merchandise more than one, the import tax should be paied.
So I think your circumstance is like this.
