![]() | hi I am looking for some tips as to where to see the Great Wall. I really would like to avoid Badaling and Beijing area, the crowds there and the poorly restored looks of it. Also, on the same subject, are there any spots to see The Great Wall that have other things to see or visit nearby at the same time ? Thanks |

![]() | Check out my travel review on Huang Hua Cheng which has been upgraded since I went but still should be less crowded. Mutianyu Google using <great wall off the beaten track> and you'll find other information and bloggs. Hope this is a little help. I did a combo cycle and walk with a small group, all day for just Y300 it was so worth it not to have to think and there was literally no-one but a handful of workers on the section we walked. If you've got time a day trip to Laolongtou the Old Dragon's Head which is the end of the wall on the coast at Shanhaiguan Take the train from Beijing and if you can't get tickets back for the train then the bus is also a good option. Good fast highway. http://www.sars.gov.cn/ |

![]() | thanks, that's about what i was looking for. the only thing i am unclear, is if they meet at 7:00am at the hostel and drive out to Jinshanling, but no where does it seem to state the location of the hostel itself that people are supposed to meet at. |
