Something is so wrong with this traveling companion stuff
Jul 9, 2008 01:24
guest06934 Came across this traveling companion section while browsing this site and found it rather disturbing. It seems like a thin veiled way for older Western men to pick up Chinese women in China. What is even more sick is that there are Chinese women who respond to these men.

Why is a seemingly reputable site like this that deals primarily in travel have such a section? And is there so little opportunity in China for women that such a significant number have to act as escorts for middle aged obese men who can't get a date in their home countries?

Guest06934,
If you look more carefully you will find plenty of members here complaining to the posters directly in regards to some of the wording used.
Thankfully I am not one of the “middle aged obese men who can't get a date in their home countries”
I’m just old.

GUEST06934 Thanks for the clarification. I did'nt mean to be abrasive just that when I was in China this summer I saw many younger Chinese women with older western men and were obviously their escorts for the trip. Many of my girlfriends here in LA are Chinese and they are highly educated, beautiful and successful. They can hold their own against the best in the world in job and relationships.

By the way I'm a White woman happily married to a great Chinese guy.

We have been quite rude to a lot of the people who put the threads on, it always seems they want female companion or interpreter who needs to be 18-25 and able to stay in their room at night time.
It is clearly obvious to most of us what they are after but sadly a few women reply and I have even seen them give mobile numbers too.

I would like to see threads like that just deleted. I joined this site to get help with my China travel, after all its called travel China guide.
Although thatcould be cockney rhyming slang for 'come find a bride'

Well said Dave C, I agree totally with what you say.
Do we have any mods on this forum who can delete these type of posts?

Perhaps we should vote on removal of a lot of other threads too.

Will be so happy when the Olympics are thru and we are done with all the ads for accommodation. I'm sure there are better places for them all to post.

You and me both. LOL!

Sometimes I get the feeling that all the houses in Beijing are up for rent these days. O_o
