Beef Protest has intensified in South Korea. On July 5th, almost 5000 people gathered in Seoul to protest against a beef import deal made between
US and South Korea and President Lee Myung-bak.Those religious groups also attended in the protest including Catholics, Protestants and Buddhists.
It is reported that about 700 monks and 9000 buddhists had rallied on the streets to protest against the beef import deal.

Acutally, the public started protest in early May because they were concerned about the possible mad cow disease in US beef. Later on, it has grown into
a "platform" where people condemn Lee Myung-bak. On June 6th, six high-officials of Lee's government submitted their resignation letters to the president.
It seems that the South Koreans haven't believed Lee and his government now.

Although many people walk on the street to protest against US beef import deal, US beef has been sold very well since it landed on South Korea on June 16th.
In some places, people even queue for buying US beef since it is much cheaper than Korean beef and the price is only about 40 percent of Korean beef.

No matter how the protest ends, the public needs to maintain their lives. Facing the cheaper US beef, to eat or not to eat has become a question. How do you view
South Koreans' protest?

Let the consumers decide. Allow importation and then if no one buys the Beef, it won't be an issue. The protesters are interfering with the marketplace. People should have the right to choose their food.
What it comes down to is a vocal group is trying to tell everyone else what to do. I say let the people decide. Besides, how can someoen get so worked up and possible get injured or die in a riot about a food item? That would look silly on a tombstone. " He died trying to keep imported beef off of supermarket shelves."

Yinduffy, that is very funny. I agree with you that consumers themselves should decide to buy the imported beef or not.
