I have accepted a position in Guangzhou and will be making 10,500 RMB per month. That is about 1300 USD and this is before taxes. I'm not sure how much those are going to be. Is that a decent salary that will allow me to save some money and get in some travel?

Thanks :-)

The salary is ok ,i guess you can save money to get travel if you don't spend a lot of the money to make fun .the rent of apt maybe around 2000 RMB,and the foods is cheap .The salary above 10000 RMB is middle class salary in guangzhou.

Depends on how you live. If you're alone and don't party much, that should be quite plenty!

The majority of the local folks especially those from other provinces struggle to earn around RMB1-2,000 a month. So u can consider yourself relatively well-off by local standards.

Sorry to bother , but I'd like to know what position and industry is your job?
Because I want to work for a company in Shanghai also.
I graduated with a degree of Commernce and accountantcy. My English is quite well and can also speak Chinese basicly.

Anyone can suggest me how can I get a job in Shanghai?

Many thanks

That salary is plenty, but you might not have some of the tings you are used to such as a car. You can live on a fraction of that unless you go to nightclubs all the time. Tax will be 15% on amounts over 4800 rmb per month

GUEST29145 I am an American who may be relocating to Guangzhou to join a large law firm and to teach and give legal seminars in the city. What might I expect as a salary range for a professional of my substantial experience?
