1st time to China transportation questions

Can someone please tell me what is the best website to purchase train tickets? My group is traveling from Shanghai to Beijing then from Beijing to Ying Kou. We would like to purchase tickets in advance of our arrival in August. If we are unable to purchase tickets now, would it be possible to purchase them a few days in advance once we arrive in china?
