storing luggage at/close to train stations?

guest14157	Hi all, I'm planning a 30-day trip to China, stopping at Beijing, Xi'an, Luoyang, Nanjing, Shanghai, Huangshan, and a few surrounding towns. Are there facilities to store luggage at/nearby the train stations? I will be taking some overnight trains, arriving at some cities early in the morning. I want to be able to roam around the cities without the burden of carrying suitcases & big backpacks. I guess another option is to ask the hotel if I can leave my luggage with them first. Is that a common practice? Would they be OK with that? Thanks for helping in advance! =)
