Bus questions between Kunming & Laos

guest01124	Have anyone done a bus trip between Luang Prabang or Vientiane & Kunming ? Someone mentioned a direct bus trip fron Kunming to Vientiene is around 30 over hrs with a long stop in between but judged from my guidebook, adding up Vientiene - Luang Prabang - Boten - Jinhong - Kunming already added to more than those hours. Is there any direct bus or where can I get anymore info ? Guidebooks have no info on a direct journey. If I breakup the journey, I wonder how long or how days do I need ? Any info will be much appreciated.
