Guilin to Yangshuo by water ?

I am thinking of taking a few days' break from Guangzhou and heading to Guilin-Yangshuo myself, around mid-Aug. Is that a good time for photography? Too hot? Can I get hotel rooms in Yangshuo for RMB100-150?
