Hi I noticed a phenomenon that a majority of foreigners prefer sunbathing. A lot of them want to have their skin tanned. Do you westerners think people with tanned skin of being sexy? Chinese think that people with fair complexion are attractive. Chinese women do their best to whiten their skins. Though Chinese men don’t whiten their skin, they still prefer having white skin. Do you prefer tan-skin or fair complexion? Do you prefer a spouse with pale white skin?

It's pretty simple: in many poorer countries a sun tan is linked to people who work outside, like farmers. And if you are not a farmer but a person with a good job you 'of course' do not want to be related to that, hence the preference of the white skin. In more developed countries, where the farmers are just a small group and it's more the office 'slaves' who are considered as the group you don't want to belong to, a sun tan shows you are wealthy enough to have free time and lay in the sun. So it's just a matter of time before also in China a tan is considered nice. btw: everybody knows too much sun is not good for your skin, but what do you think of all these bleaching products the Chinese women are using to keep their skin white? Don't use them, really.

I'm pretty much satisfied with my color. Not too dark and not pale either. Just right. I like the compliments I get at work so no worries. LOL! Overexposure to sunlight will produce skin cancer and many of those whitening products have hydroquinone if they have to be really effective. I think hydroquinone is already banned in many countries.
