Dave, thanks for correcting me. But I am a little confused. I consult it with a dictionary and it tells me " litchi". Is the dictionary wrong?

No, I think that is the chinese name for it. If we go to supermarket here they are labelled as lychees but when I used to try to get them at my local chinese shop they looked blank at me.
