Fried shrimps with litchi

I got this recipe from the internet and would like to share it with you together.

Materials: 500 grams litchi, 360 grams shrimps, 2 green peppers, 1/2 carrot, 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic.

Marinade: 1/5 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon cooking wine, 1/3 tablespoon chicken powder and 1 tablespoon starch.

Seasonings: 2 tablespoons edible oil, 1/2 tablespoon starch, 1/5 tablespoon salt and 1/3 tablespoon chicken powder.

Step 1 Get rid of the skin and core of the litchi and soak them in light salt water. Mix 1/2 tablespoon starch and 3 tablespoons water together.

Step 2 Get rid of the heads and skin of the shrimps, mix them with 1/5 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon cooking wine, 1/3 tablespoon chicken powder and 1 tablespoon starch together and then marinade for 15 minutes.

Step 3 Cut the skin of the carrot off and then use the instrument in the picture to cut the carrot. Cut off the butt of the green pepper and hollow them. Then cut them into pieces.

Step 4 Pre-heat 1 tablespoon of edible oil and fry shrimps until they curl and turn red. Then take them out.

Step 5 Add another tablespoon edible oil in, quick-fry minced garlic, carrot and green pepper. Then put litchi in and stir-fry them together.

Step 6 Add 1/3 cup of water, 1/5 tablespoon salt and 1/3 tablespoon chicken powder in and then boil them. After boiling, put shrimps in and stir-fry them together.

Step 7 Pour starchy water in the pan and then load them on a plate.

Litchi, I love it very much. But how does it taste when mixed with shrimps, sweet or salty?

I had chicken with Litchi in Zhengcheng in Guangdong, a city famous for it's litchis. It was served as portions: a piece of dofu with a piece of of litchi then a slice of fried chicken with skin on top. I was certainly very tasty - but as I am not one for the gammon (ham) and pineapple often served in the west, I am also less inclined to this litchi sweet and savoury combination.

Sounds interesting, might try cooking it myself.

We call them lychees in the west.
