Trouble getting China visa
Jul 23, 2008 02:37
guest17126 Hi, I have bought an airline ticket to go to China via Hong Kong. Now from the Chinese embassy they ask for a return ticket Hong Kong - China. I had planned to arrange this when arriving as I only want to go to the Shenzhen airport, and I understand that there is a cheap direct bus service. I have found some travel agents but they can only provide KCRC train tickets Hong Kong - Guangzhou (at three times the price one would pay on the spot). Does anyone know of a way around this? Or of any travel agent who can arrange for the bus tickets?

This is a problem many people are having at the moment. Apparently the best thing to do is to book the boat in advance from HK to either Zhuhai, Shenzhen, or Guangzhou. Even if you don't use it, it'll be cheaper than paying an agent to get you the train ticket.

GUEST17126 Thank you for your suggestion. I have now got an OK from the embassy in Greece that we will get a visa. We had booked all hotels through an agency, they sent us booking confirmation from each hotel (in Chinese), we had a return flight Athens-Hong Kong and I booked through the web a ferry on Turbojet for the dates we want to go to China (Kowloon to Shenzhen). This turned out to be the cheapest available option. I had thought of the Hong Kong - Zhuhai option, but I couldn't book it on the ferry website, maybe there is a restriction on how far in advance you can book.

GUEST39044 China embassy is now rejecting temporary residents from Australia. Refusing to give tourist visa to enter china mainland. Even though they have lots of money. Discrimination!!

GUEST39044 I know. It's not fair, isn't it? Because they don't want too much people during the olympic games. But still.. They just don't want people to visit China. Find somewhere else more sophisticated instead. Why do you want to go to China anyway? China isn't good. Just because there's a game going on.. usually not many people go there. people with money prefers to travel somewhere else. if u have money, don't spend it in china.

GUEST15522 If you paid by credit card why don't you just dispute the charges??
Not only the Chinese people that are greedy, many people from different countries are just as greedy. I have no doubt that people from your country are just as greedy if they had the chance.
