![]() | Russian could send military aircraft back to bases in Cuba in response to U.S. plans to deploy elements of a missile shield in Central Europe, reported a Russian daily on July 21, 2008. US is planning to deploy ten interceptor missiles in Poland and radar in Czech. Anonymous high-rank military aviation source said that now that US and NATO are deploying the missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic, our strategic bombers will already be landing in Cuba. It is reported that Russia's Tu-160 and Tu-95 strategic bombers are very likely to be stationed in Cuba. Some media claimed that the news might be only a rumor, but Russian media noted that the rumors had not appeared from out of thin air. The ‘rumors’ just remind me of the Cuban Missiles Crisis in 1962. At that moment, some hard-liners in USA even blamed Kennedy as a coward for his handling the crisis. Will there be another Cuban Missiles Crisis? Russian Tu-160 ( blackjack) strategic bombers ![]() |

![]() | I personally think that we (The U.S.) should let the Europeans defend themselves. We have better ways to spend our money than leasing bases there. As for the Russians, They are good at playing the innocent victim threatened by big bad America. |

![]() | Yup...here we go again. Whatever the build-up amounts too, I just hope it doesn't get as serious as the Kennedy/Khrushchev debacle.......that was too close for comfort. |
