Cost Of Travel In China
Jul 31, 2008 19:38
guest06226 Hi,

I have plans to leave for China (from Canada) at the end of August. I am just wondering how much money I would be expected to spend if I wanted to stay in China for four months. Comfort is not a huge issue for me but at the same time I don't want to sleep in a tent in random gutters.

If anyone can share with me what they managed to get by on and for how long I would really appreciate i

Thanks alot.

It varies hugely depending on which areas of China you will be staying? Prices for accommodation can vary from 15 yuan per night up to 200 yuan per night for a basic room (sharing). For food, you can survive on 40 yuan or less per day out of cities, but will probably spend more in popular built up areas. Do you need any transport costs?

Travelling cheaply, I easily manage on 200 per day. Hotels say 70 per night, but hostels are 50 or less (I have never had accom less than 30),, food 30 per day (but I only eat once a day, beer 30 (a non-reduceable essential to ensure body fluids are kept at correct levels!!!), travel 50 because you are taking 4 months, occasional entrance fees 20 per day - they are expensive by local standards but you will only pay for so many temples and other routine toursist attractions before they are less interesting. When I stay with Chinese friends I find the cost rises substantially because you have to do your share of entertaining, or pay for your hosts who are not always well off, and you go out to places you might skip on yr own.

GUESTCANIE for backpacker 200-250 Y per day for minimun living-costs.

100 Y for food and accomodation,

100-150 Y for day tour, transportation, entrance fee (they rise the fee every year.)

But it's also depend on your plan, how far you go? what the vehicle you choose? or How luxury you are?
