For food, you can survive on 40 yuan or less per day out of cities, but will probably spend more in popular built up areas. Do you need any transport costs? |

![]() | Travelling cheaply, I easily manage on 200 per day. Hotels say 70 per night, but hostels are 50 or less (I have never had accom less than 30),, food 30 per day (but I only eat once a day, beer 30 (a non-reduceable essential to ensure body fluids are kept at correct levels!!!), travel 50 because you are taking 4 months, occasional entrance fees 20 per day - they are expensive by local standards but you will only pay for so many temples and other routine toursist attractions before they are less interesting. When I stay with Chinese friends I find the cost rises substantially because you have to do your share of entertaining, or pay for your hosts who are not always well off, and you go out to places you might skip on yr own. |
