In addition, a series of new exhibitions are underway. I had visited the must-be-visited historical resort last summer, which still left me the impression of the incompletion of the most important part of the Forbidden City. The scene of the Hall of Supreme Harmony of under repairing disappointed me so much that I even felt reluctant taking pictures of the architecture. Well, regrets will be made up this summer, because a complete hall will present in front of us again. Following are some extracted reports on this reopen process. Refurbishing the Hall of Supreme Harmony has taken more than two years. Its outer wooden walls have been repainted and the main framework strengthened. The Hall's major artistic features, such as the intricate caisson in the ceiling above the throne, the throne itself and the screens behind it, involved slow and painstaking work. A series of exhibitions has also been launched. A highlight is the porcelain exhibition at the Hall of Literary Glory in the northeast of the Forbidden City. The Palace Museum has selected 441 masterpieces from its vast porcelain collection. LV Chenglong, Deputy Director Porcelain Dept, Palace Museum, said, "The 441 exhibits span from the New Stone Age to the late Qing Dynasty. Nearly every porcelain type in the history of the development of Chinese porcelain can be found at the exhibition." Many masterpieces of calligraphy and painting are preserved in the Palace Museum. For a glimpse of China's history of fine art, a visit to the Hall of Martial Valor will be satisfying. There you will find a 3-phase exhibition highlighting the important stages in the development of fine art in China. Currently, the show's second phase is underway, featuring famous painters from the Tang Dynasty. Rare works of master Yuan Liben are on display. Zeng Jun, Deputy Director Calligraphy & Painting Dept, Palace Museum, said, "The second phase of our exhibition runs from July 15th to the end of August, coinciding with the Olympic Games. Visitors and athletes from home and abroad can come here to appreciate some of our best collection." The Palace Museum will also hold many other theme exhibitions in August, including one featuring court life in the Qing Dynasty.
