Transportation in China

HI I am looking for information on baggage restrictions for trains and flights in China.
I am staying in Shanghai for 2 weeks and then going to Kunming to work.
My concern is about how much does my lugguage have to weigh on a flight or train? Are their weight restrictions on the amount of lugguage you can check in on a flight and also on a train. If I can't take a flight then how much can I take on the K9 train soft sleeper section?
Any information or advice would be appreciated as I can't afford to throw anything out my suitcase as it is mostly books and resources for work.

Thanks

Train no one cares, as long as you're able to carry it on, you can have it.
You might want to consider posting your books and resources from Shanghai to Kunming, by China Post. Not expensive.
