The Chinese basketball player and NBA star Yao Ming has won international prestige for China during international events. Yao is dubbed as “NBA good boy”. During his 5 years of NBA career, he has outshined other “NBA bad boys” and set a very positive good public image for himself. A flag bearer of a nation must be an athlete with good sport ethics, high sport caliber and positive good public image. Yao undeniably fits the criteria. BTW, Yao was China’s national flag bearer at the opening of the Athens Olympic Games in 2004.
