It is an objective of the Olympics to actively strive for peace. Sadly, while the sizzling games are in the spotlight, the conflict between George and Russia is escalating. Russia and George have a longstanding dispute over the South Ossetia. The fierce battle lasted 3 days and has left thousands homeless. The war was against the Olympic spirit and the goal of Olympics.

A touching scene happened in the Olympic Podium:

Two female athletes from Russia and Georgia have embraced on an Olympic podium in a sign of national unity as their countries wage war.

GUEST1926 The war lasted 6 days. 16 Russian soldiers were killed, hundreds injured. 1600 civillian were killed in South Ossetia. 175 Georgian soldiers were killed, and 500 were wounded. Russia and Georgia haven't signed a cease-fire agreement yet.
