I am polish leaving in Ireland going to China in September. The Chinese embassy in Ireland told me I have to apply in my own country, but I don't really feel like flying over to Poland just to gte the visa. Do you know if Polish embassy in Ireland could help with that?

Anybody had a problem like that? And how did you deal with it?

I'm going to Polish embassy today and will call a Chinese embassy in Poland later on today, but would appreciate any prior advise on how to make this work out without the need of going to Poland.

(I don't have any more annual leave and the embassy is about 7h drive from my city, soe that would be just a big waste of time and money for me and so it's extremly inconvinient).

Thanks!

GUEST29118 hello,
we are experiencing the same problem. Also travelling in September to China.
We are currently in Bulgaria.
I am Bulgarian, but my fiancee is Australian, the embassy advised him, that he has to go back to Aus in order to apply for his visa.
This is different to what our out travel agent advised 9 months ago. The only requirement was, that we had to apply maximum 3 months before our intended date of entry.
If anyone knows how to get over this misshap, any info would be great.

If you can prove you are residing in a country other than your own (rather than just travelling), then you should be able to apply at the Chinese embassy of the country where you are living. I know of people doing this all the time.

The problem is that with the Olypmics it changed and they are not doing it anymore this way. You have to apply in your home country for the time being.

Well by definition, your home country is where your home is! If you live in Ireland (and can prove it) then that is your home country (albeit temporarily)! That would be my argument. Also, there are loads of backpackers who go on 12 month trips and cannot get a Chinese visa before they leave their own country as the visa will expire before they reach China. So they always manage to get a visa enroute. All they need to do is show they have been out of their country for enough time that obtaining a visa beforehand was no possible.

Your own embassy is unlikely to be able to help... they will say it is up to the country u r visiting. Yes, the current situation is a real pain in the A.

GUEST58130 hello,

I just wanted to clarify a little. If you have a valid PPS number, you can apply from Dublin. When I was in the embassy (going to China in August), they wanted to see it from me, they took a copy from it, but that was all. Once they saw that I had it, they did not say anything.
