| According to a poll among Beijing citizens, “four great inventions” was praised as the most impressive performance at the opening ceremony. The “four inventions” was vividly presented in the opening ceremony. The papermaking, movable type printing, compass and gunpowder were the great inventions that represent the best of Chinese ancient civilization. Papermaking was displayed in Friday's opening ceremony with a Chinese painting scroll that opened to begin the performances and a sheet of white paper that was laid in the center of the scroll.Movable type printing was represented in an image of both ancient character cases in the “writing part of the performance”. Compass was represented In the "Silk Road" part of the performances. Gunpowder was represented in the display of fireworks. The performance of martial arts was ranked the second most impressive. | Stop pounding your chests and being picky. The WHOLE ceremony was impressive and the BEST I've ever seen and will not be equaled for years and years to come. |
