| Have you bought your tickets? As far as i know, you can buy tickets of trains that depart from another city or station at your own city. But be sure you can get on the train in time. |

| If you have bought the train tickets departing from the local station, you may get on at another city or station as well, but it should be more close to you destination than the local station where you bought your tickets. I hope it helps. |

| Yes, The rules seem inconsistent, or inconsistently applied. You should just try - but take a Chinee speaker with you. Maybe the attached photo from Chengdu station (taken a year ago) will help! |

| as far as i concern , i haven't heard of the round trip tickets. the only thing about tickets i know is that generally you can by the return tickets from the realway station in most of the big cities. |

| In Kunming you can't buy tickets Xi'an-Beijing or Beijing-Shanghai. In Shanghai you can buy tickets Beijing-shanghai. 10 days in advance. |
