When in China I have seen many shops selling sliced deer antler. I understand that it is big business raising deer just for their antlers.
Have you ever eaten them or potions made with them? My friends that are hunters would only consider keeping the antlers as a hunting trophy.
In fact my parents had two mounted deer heads with antlers on display for years. When we sold the house we sold them at a yard sale without a thought of saving the antlers.
I think eating deer antlers is an affection of Asia.

A man I know has a deer farm in New Zealand. All of the antlers are shipped to China.
As I understand it, it is for “Men’s health”
Dodger.

It's a traditional Chinese Med and very expensive. Overtaking it will hurt health.

Dodger is right. It is good for men's health. In ancient times, deer antler is served as tributes to the imperial court. Only the emperors, powerful officials and rich people can afford to enjoy the deer antler. As Coolsprings said, overtaking deer antler can harm your body.

There are many products made from deer antler, for instance, deer antler wine.
