holidays in october?

hi friends,
1. i would just like to know if there is any chinese festival in the beginning of october in china as i am coming during the second week?

2. also the chinese trade fair in GZ is from the 15 to 20 oct. i will be in GZ between 6 and 13 oct, is that ok or will i encounter any rush movements and rise in prices?

Golden Week ends on Oct 5th, which is a national week of holiday. You shouldn't be affected too much by the Canton Fair as long as you are gone before it starts.

1. The Chinese National Day Holidays of this year will be from Septerber 29 to October 5, 2008, two days earlier than usual. During the second week, there will be no holidays.

2. The 104th Canton Fair is divided into three periods, respectively, from Oct 15 to 19, Oct 24 to 28, and Nov 02 to 06, 2008.
Before the fair, the room rate of the hotel is normal. However, there will be a sharp rise of the room price from Oct 14.
