![]() | Hi, I'm traveling to China in December with my family. During that time we will be based in Guangzhou. At the moment we are trying to decide on between going to Yunnan or Xinjiang. We will be going with a tour group/company based in Guangzhou, and will have about 5-7 days. Where would people recommend to go? Yunnan or Xinjiang. My mom said they are both beautiful places. And what are some of the must go attractions in the areas? Thanks everyone, Joanne |

![]() | Hi, Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I personally love mountain scenery, (I'm actually planning a trip to go to Tibet with a friend, because I'm staying in China for another 2 more weeks) but my mom had suggested considering Xinjiang, so I thought maybe Xinjiang would be different with the desert etc. I think if its going to be that cold, my mom might start complaining about the weather rather than enjoying herself. The decision's not made yet, and its really up to my mom, but I get some input into where we go. Any other suggestions, on places we should consider going to in China? (if we don't go either Yunnan or Xinjiang). We've been to Beijing before, and I think my mom has been to Zhang jia jie. We'll have one week, and want to go the nice scenic places. Thanks everyone, Joanne. |

![]() | Hi, Thanks to everyones suggestion, I think there is a very high chance that we'll be going to Yunnan. I spoke with my mom about the cold weather in Xinjiang, and she said 'forget about going there then'. Now, because there might or might not be a bit of change in my plans, I might have a few days (about 4 days) during Chinese New Year by myself. And I was thinking of weather I should go to Yangshuo as you suggested or to Zhang Jia Jie. I'll be joining a tour. So the question now is, Yangshuo of Zhang jia jie? (i might start a new thread to get more feedback) Thanks, Joanne. |

![]() | Even if you go to Yunnan, keep away from the places which have high altitude otherwise it'll be freezing as well. Anywhere north of Lijiang is probably a no-go, and Lijiang's Jade Dragon Snow Mountain will be snowing too. I would prefer Yangshuo. |
