Guestjordan - you have no idea what you are talking about. There are many thin soups in the west which can be drunk, and are drunk on a daily basis.

GUESTJORDAN Baronwangle, I cant remember any kind of 'thin' soup in my grandmother's kitchen.
Except dose who are made on special Religious celebrations or the straight vegetable soup.
If you are thinking about the instant soup Maggy or whatever that can be drunk on daily basis this are recent fast food poisons.
The idea is that in Asia the soups are merely water and just a scent of meet or vegetable.

Guestjordan - I don't know where you are basing your very inaccurate soup accounts from, but if you go to almost any European country you will find soup dispensing machines which supply soup in a cup. In the UK we have a well known brand of soup "Cuppa Soup" which is served exactly how its name suggests. All these soups are drunk from cups. Of course, there are many thicker soups which people usually have in a bowl with bread, but going back to the original question - it is certainly in no way rude to say "drink soup".

GUEST04110 Baronwangle, you’re so not right about that... The cup soups can be found all over the world and as Guestjordan mentioned, it’s just a cheap fast food~~ BUT the normal, real soups in Europe are ALWAYS EATEN WITH A SPOON, not drunk!!! And this applies to 99% of European countries, including the UK. So to be more precise - saying you’re drinking soup (as long as the soup is not served in a cup/mug) is not that correct. Please, don’t speak for most of european countries, because it makes you look like you’ve not visited many of them -_-

Not sure about what your definition of soup or drinking is here. There are thin liquid soups (broth) and thick cream soups. What is the difference between eating and drinking, chewing? I would agree with an earlier post and say you have or are having soup which then avoids the issue.
